How to scan other room types with IKEA Kreativ

If you want to scan a room that doesn’t fall into typical categories like living room, bedroom, dining room, or office, you can still achieve accurate results using a photographic wide-angle scan.

Learn more about how to effectively scan other room types:

  • When prompted to select a room to scan, choose the 'Other Room Types' option to continue.

Keep these best practices in mind:

  • Ensure the floor is visible: Make sure part of the floor is shown in your photos and scans. This helps with accurate room measurements.

  • Step back from walls and objects: Capture more of the room by standing farther away from walls and furniture. Ideally, scan from a corner or an open area.

  • Only move when prompted.

Start in an open area:

  • Start the scanning process at a spot where you can easily step aside to capture additional angles if needed.

  • Avoid clutter: Remove any objects that might obstruct the view of the room.

  • Change your viewing angle or rearrange the objects to achieve a clear and accurate scan.

  • Ensure good lighting: Bright, well-lit areas help capture room details more accurately.

By following these guidelines during your wide-angle photographic scan, you can successfully capture the layout of spaces that don't fit standard categories, allowing you to design unique rooms with precision and confidence.
