installation screwsBarbaraThe screws in the hinges for installing into the cabinet are in hinge holes that are threaded. When I try to screw the screw into the wood box the hinge would ride up the screw but not go into the wood. Then the screw would be locked in place and couldn't be unscrewed. The only way I could get the screw out was to take the hinge down, use vice grip on pointed end and break the screw free from the hinge. Then I could get it out. I ended up drilling out the holes in the hinge to get rid of the threads. Then the screw would easily go through the hole which allowed me to screw the hinge in place on the box. Suggest not threading the holes in the hinge and make the holes big enough for the screws to fit through. We've got 40 or so Ikea Besta boxes & doors around our house and this is the first time I've had a problem with the hinges. Something changed in the hinge production process.
terrible!BarbaraWhat in the world has happened to Ikea products??!! We have put together probably over 50 Besta cabinets over the years and many of them are still in our home. They're an awesome design and your design limited only by your imagination. HOWEVER...the hinges and suspension rail pieces are impossible to install. they are poorly made with the holes in the hinges so small the screw will not screw in nor reverse. my husband had to drill out the hole in order to finally get the screw into the hinge and cabinet...all 6 of them! and the doors will not stay closed of course. the boxes went together easily but the brackets to install on the back of them to hang on the suspension rail would not stay on nor would it fit into the suspension rail easily. sadly that is the last time we buy the besta cabinets

Some issues LyanneThese hinges work great if you a) get the correct hinges in the bag and b) use different screws. I have received bags of hinges with two different types of hinges. The plastic tab on the hinges should be light gray like in the product pic. If they’re dark gray they’re the wrong ones. Go to the hardware store and get cabinet hinge screws to attach the hinges to the besta door. They work much better than the chunky screws that damage your doors.
Screws won't budge!AnneComing right out of the package the screws needed to secure the door in place were impossible to move at all. I couldn't screw them in or out of the hinge; they were locked in place in all 4 hinges I purchased. Then when trying to remove the old doors, I realized those hinge screws were also locked in place and the only way to remove the doors was to literally rip them off their hinges. So now I'm also out a besta cabinet. These are a complete waste of money and I'm confused why IKEA would sell a product that clearly doesn't work.

Horrific InstructionsTaylorThis litearlly couldn't have come with less guidance. I searched the internet high and low and there's nothing for people. I couldn't even get help from your customer service, they only sent me the same entirely unhelpful diagram that comes on the bag. Do they only install on the right side of the cabinet, opening L to R?? What are all the additional pieces? How does it work with the push to open/close, vs. using this hinge with handles? I've probably ruined my $500 cabinet with these. None of them sit appropriately.

MisalignedTriciaFirst, the screws are 1/2 the size of the pre drilled holes. Second, there should be a point at the end of the screw. Most importantly, on the hinges that came with my Lommarp cabinet were misaligned. One screw in the hinge was right up against the metal hinge unit, making it impossible to turn the screw After hours of trying to "make it work", I have scratched cabinet and stripped "screw" heads.

Good hinges, lots of time needed to adjust, had failures Anonymous reviewerI bought 5 sets of these hinges and you need to allocate a decent amount of time of you want to align everything. Each hinge came with a different alignment set in the screws. After hours, I was finally pleased with the alignment of the 5 cabinets side by side.
This was not even 3 years ago, but I've already had the soft close feature of some of these hinges fail, and you can see streaks of what looks like oil that oozed out of the hinge. These cabinets are very rarely opened, used for display purposes. Did not expect failures at this rate.
No magnet to hold the door closedSheilingThe push to open does t matter if there isn’t a magnet to hold the doors closed as well. Am I missing something here?
