Love it. ChelseyNot sure if maybe some of the lamps in the bad reviews were defected. But I had no issues. It doesn’t seem as fragile as the reviews say. I’m glad I still decided to buy it. I love it.

Broke after 3 days NancyI barely got to enjoy this lamp. It broke within 3 days of purchase 😭
FLIMSY and breaks at the slightest touchLisaI bought two of these lamps. It broke after one week of use the first time, and I liked how it looked so much that I bought it again and was super delicate with it. I went to move it from one spot to another - CAREFULLY - and the cord touched it just a little and it completed shattered.
So if you want a glass lamp that doesn't last the slightest touch, go for it. Otherwise don't waste your money. (and i tried to contact customer service about it, they said they won't do anything about it)
FragileRoseI had a very similar experience to another reviewer Laura. I had left the lamp in place for months in an infrequently used room, but when i went to slide it over to wipe down the table, the glass shattered. It was not dropped, nor was there any impact. Like her, I suspect that I has to do with how to base is affixed to the bulb. It's too loose and attaches via metal clips that seem prone to breaking the glass.
It's pretty, but I cannot recommend it. Even very gentle handling seems like it can damage the light irreparably if things move slightly off center, which is too easy given how loosely the pieces connect.
Extremely fragileLauraThe base of the lamp is very loose from the dome. It shattered when I gently picked it up with two hands, and I've had it for less than a week. I own several other IKEA lamps that are also made of glass but have never experienced this issue.
Worth itEliasThe value is excellent - it's a beautiful lamp. The plastic base is a bit flimsy, but for the price I can't complain much.

My favorite light!MadisonThe fado lamp provides the perfect soft lighting. I love it in the early mornings and late evenings when I'm reading. My only problem is the delicateness of the glass orb. I've broken the orb twice now and both times were due to very light touches. It would be great if they offered replacement orbs so I don't have to buy the cord and orb each time.
very sturdy!!AnnikaI am so impressed with this lamp. i’ve knocked it off of where i sit it twice now and it has survived both times.
the surface it sits on is about 2.5 ft (.75 meters) high and it fell onto hardwood floors. Would definitely recommend!
Lasted a dayHee SungI got the package 2 days ago. When I opened the box, I was really excited to set it up. But now it’s broken into pieces. It’s only been a day since I installed it. I was very careful handling it too. You’re better off buying a cheap plastic lamp instead. This is way too fragile.
Glass cracked within minutes of openingJoeyRight after putting the lightbulb in, I tried picking it up and the weak metal snapping mechanism that holds the glass orb shade detached and the glass cracked. Would love to buy this again if that mechanism is changed
Beautiful but treat it like an eggJohnThis is a lovely lamp that casts a nice glow. Recently, while cleaning, I lifted the lamp off the end table only to have the bottom shatter at the base connection. If you buy it, be very careful in lifting it!
Cute but delicateKaiI picked up two of these to sit on top of my STORKLINTA nightstands, and they are super cute. I’m using some color-adjustable smart bulbs from Lifx and I love that the lamps diffuse a soft, even light. As others have mentioned, these lamps are very difficult. I set them down on my nightstands after installing my bulbs and I will not be touching them for the foreseeable future.
not designed to lastViktoriiaIt's an extremely beautiful lamp and when I saw the design I knew it wasn't gonna last—thin glass with a metal snapping mechanism and plastic stand that makes it tip over really easily. But it lasted 3!! days. Didn't even drop it, was trying to lift and the bottom cracked. While looks really pretty, the lifespan is just really short unless you're gonna place it somewhere where it is never touched or moved (and able to deliver it there safely).
CAUTION!!!NelsonI bought this lamp in AS-IS department and almost got my hand fingers cut by a very sharp piece of broken glass, I understand the term “As-Is” but Indont thing the meaning extends to the risk of customer safety, please be careful when placed a item for sale As-Is, broken glass I don’t think is allowed by the law
Great soft light with a smart bulbKevinThis lamp can be overly bright with a standard bulb, but a smart bulb gives enough control to make it work wonderfully. The glass makes the light very diffuse, allowing the lamp to light up a room even if placed where you look at it directly without hurting the eyes or overwhelming the surrounding view.
Looks good, but too fragile to recommend BenjaminI love the way it looks and operates. Unfortunately this thing is *extremely* fragile. I bought two, and one shattered while pulling it out of the box. If you can manage to unbox it, mount the bulb, plug it in, and then never allow anything to touch it ever again, you'll have a great lamp. But be careful!
lovelyJeniferThis lamp works great, and arrived packed fairly well with no damage. I added a 60w smart bulb so I can change up the colors, and the light is always evenly diffused from the glass shade.

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
