How can IKEA maintain high quality while keeping prices low?
IKEA's vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. This means that they want their products to be accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of the price.
IKEA is a global company, and the advantage of this is that they can keep prices low by manufacturing large quantities of the products they sell.
When developing a new product, it must meet all the conditions of what they call Democratic Design. This means that the product should have good quality, good functionality, good design, a low price, and be sustainably produced.
They also want everyone to be able to afford to live more sustainably. Sustainability should not depend on the size of one's wallet. Therefore, it is important that more sustainable products have a low price – but they should not be produced at any cost. Since 2015, for example, all materials used in their products are either renewable, recycled, or recyclable.
