What layouts are available when I want a METOD kitchen?

The METOD kitchen system is suitable for all homes, no matter their shape, size or layout. It gives you the freedom to design a kitchen that fits perfectly into your space and suits your home.

Think about how you use your kitchen and what feels comfortable for you. Consider what you like about your current kitchen and what you would like to change. It can be helpful to make a list of the things you want to keep and the ones you want to replace.
Then use the guide below to discover which layout best suits you and your needs. If you have limited space, the options at the top of the list will be most suitable. If you have plenty of space, consider the options towards the bottom of the list.
  • Linear kitchen
Linear kitchens are ideal when space is limited. They are simple, streamlined and stylish. In this layout, all your cabinets and appliances are arranged along one wall in a straight line.
  • Parallel kitchen
Parallel kitchens are ideal for small spaces with a door or window at each end. They offer plenty of room for cooking and storage. In this layout, the kitchen is arranged along two opposite walls, creating an efficient and practical workspace.
  • L-shaped kitchen
L‑shaped kitchens make excellent use of corner space. In this layout, the kitchen is arranged along two walls that meet at a right angle, with the worktop connected across the corner. Typically, one wall is used for the sink and the other for the hob, creating a practical and efficient working area.
  • U-shaped kitchen
If you have a large room, a U‑shaped layout is ideal. It offers maximum workspace and plenty of storage options. In this design, the kitchen runs along three walls, meeting at two corners, with the worktop connecting all three sides seamlessly.
  • Kitchen with kitchen island
Adding a kitchen island gives you extra storage, plenty of workspace and, on top of that, a great place for people to gather. A kitchen island can complement any design, depending on the space you have. You can even place your main kitchen in one room and your island in an adjoining, directly connected room. If you want to know whether a kitchen island will fit in your home, make sure you have at least 120 cm of space between the island and the base cabinets.
