Install and pair KAJPLATS smart lamp

Learn which sockets KAJPLATS is in, how to mount the lamp in the luminaire and how to pair it to your IKEA Home smart system.

Sockets KAJPLATS are available in:

  • E27 – common in ceiling and floor lamps.
  • E14 – smaller lamps and window lamps.
  • GU10 – spotlights.

Install KAJPLATS in the fixture:

  1. Turn off the power on the wall switch and let the light cool down.
  2. Remove the old light source.
  3. E27/E14 (screw base): Screw in the BERTH clockwise until it is firmly seated (not too tight).
GU10 (spot): Push the light source in and turn clockwise until it locks.
  4. Replace any screen/glass and turn the power back on.

Pairing KAJPLATS:

  1. Reset if necessary.
  2. Turn on the light.
  3. On/off six times quickly with the wall switch.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the light to flash/change light.

Pair with remote control:

  1. Hold the remote within about 2 cm from KAJPLATS.
  2. Press the pairing button on the back of the BILRESA 4 times quickly.
  3. The light will start dimming up and down and then blink and shine steadily. When the light is solid, the pairing is complete.
  4. Test on/off and dimming.

If that doesn't work: check the battery, try again closer to the light, or reset the light first.

Pair with hub/gateway and app:

  1. Open the IKEA Home smart‑app.
  2. Make sure the hub is installed and online.
  3. Reset the light by turning on/off 6 times in total from the on position to begin pairing.
  4. The app will automatically find the light.
  5. Then follow the steps in the app to complete the pairing.

Quick troubleshooting

  • The light doesn't come on:
    • Check the wall switch.
    • Test the lamp in a different fixture.
  • Can't be controlled wirelessly:
    • Make sure that the pairing is complete.
    • Try pairing again, near the light.
    • Reset the light and try again.
  • Blinking or behaving strangely:
    • Check if the fixture has a built-in dimmer.
    • Test the lamp in a fixture without a dimmer.
