Do I need a diffusion barrier for my laminate and wood veneer countertop?
Yes, you need to install a diffusion barrier on laminate and wood veneer countertops. This prevents damage to the countertop caused by hot steam released from your dishwasher, washing machine and oven.
A diffusion barrier protects your countertop from moisture coming from your dishwasher, washing machine and oven or combination oven if these are placed underneath the countertop.
Our integrated and built-in dishwashers always come with a diffusion barrier, but for a freestanding dishwasher, you need to purchase a diffusion barrier separately if the dishwasher is to be placed under the countertop. If you need to buy a separate diffusion barrier, the FENSJÖ diffusion barrier is available and is transparent.
