5 ways to make magic with mirrors

Create a personal mirror collage wall! Try IKEA MALMA white mirror, just hang it using the wall brackets!

5 ways to make magic with mirrors

Get inspired by five tips on how to make small, dark or dead spaces appear bigger and brighter with mirrors.

Brighten up a dark spot

Add an airier feel to a sombre staircase by ‘borrowing’ some light. Place a tall mirror at the bottom to capture and reflect the luminosity from the upstairs. Besides illuminating the stairs, the mirror will make the hallway seem bigger.

Breathe life into an empty space

See what’s happening behind you while you’re washing up instead of looking at a blank wall by hanging a mirror above the sink. Try using the hooks behind the side mirrors to store essentials such as washing-up brushes and cloths.

Create a spacious feel

Make a smaller space appear bigger and add interest to an empty wall by creating a mirror collage wall. Play with different sizes and shapes until you get the style and proportions that are right for your home. Just remember to double check what is being reflected!

Give your space a warm glow

Put a couple of block candles on candle dishes in front and on top of mirrors. We used simple squares that you can easily place inside an unused fireplace during the summer months. Then light them and enjoy watching the flame reflections dance around the room.

Invite nature and daylight in

Try putting a long and thin mirror into a deep window niche. This will reflect what’s outside and make the opening seem bigger. Decorate the windowsill with things you love – we went for glass objects that spread the light into the room.

We love to see our customers get creative with our products. Go for it! But please note that altering or modifying IKEA products so they can no longer be re-sold or used for their original purpose, means the IKEA commercial guarantees and your right to return the products will be lost.
