First things first

Finding the right mattress may seem like a daunting task. We all sleep differently, have different body types and needs and we have mattresses to suit them. Most of our mattresses are roll packed, making them easy to take home so you can start napping even faster.

Our expert tips and Comfort guide will help make choosing the right mattress easy.

Some things to think about
Before you buy a mattress, there are a few things to think about to ensure you get the right level of comfort and support.

  • Are you a calm or active sleeper?
  • Do you prefer a soft or firm bed?
  • Do you prefer a warm or cool bed?
  • Do you sleep solo or with a partner?

Knowing the answers to these questions is the first step in finding a suitable mattress.

You can find more information about choosing the right mattress in our Comfort guide.

What’s your sleep style?

No two people sleep the same. Some toss and turn. Others sleep mostly in the same position throughout the night. The way you sleep – on your back, side or stomach – can play a huge part in which mattress is right for you. But don’t panic – we can help you find the right mattress.

Back sleeper

For back sleepers, we suggest a mattress that allows freedom of movement while you sleep. A firmer mattress is a good choice since it helps maintain natural spinal alignment and provides lumbar support.

Side sleeper

If you’re a side sleeper, you might benefit from a mattress with comfort zones that allows your shoulders and hips to sink in more while keeping your spine aligned. A medium firmor firm mattress with comfort zones is ideal for you.

Stomach sleeper

If you’re a stomach sleeper, we suggest a firmer mattress since it helps maintain your spine’s natural shape and reduces pressure on your spine.

A mattress for every body

Did you know your body type influences the type of mattress that gives you the right support? We’re all unique but we can help guide you to your ideal mattress, even if your body type isn’t an exact match.

Wide shoulders, wider waist – Since your upper body exerts more pressure, a firmer mattress with comfort zones is a good choice.

Wide shoulders, narrow waist – You need a mattress with comfort zones that provide the right support and pressure relief around the shoulders.

Narrow shoulders, narrow waist – Most mattress types will suit you. But it’s good to have a mattress that supports spine alignment and lets you sink in.

Narrow shoulder, wide waist – Your ideal mattress features comfort zones that will support your hips and maintain spine alignment.

Size matters

Body weight can be a sensitive topic, but it’s also a key to finding the right mattress since it can affect the level of support and comfort you need.

Firmer mattresses are more suitable for mid to heavier weight sleepers. They provide optimal comfort by letting you sink in, keeping the spine as straight possible. Lighter weight sleepers can benefit from softer mattresses with a cosy, sink-in feel that relieves pressure.

Which mattress firmness is for you?

Soft, firm or something in between? We know what we like but it’s also good to think about what we need to relax while we sleep. Find out which type of firmness is best for you.

Soft

A soft mattress contours to your body, letting you sink in, and provide the softest support. Soft mattresses are best for lighter to medium weight sleepers.

Medium firm

A medium firm mattress is a bit softer than a firm mattress, can adapt to your body shape and keep your back and body aligned. It’s ideal for different sleeping positions.

Firm

A firm mattress keeps your back and body aligned. Firm mattresses follow the natural shape of your body and allow for freedom of movement while you sleep. They’re ideal for heavier sleepers.

Not quite what you expected?

It can take time for your body and new mattress to get used to one another. Your mattress will probably feel firmer than expected at first. Give it a few weeks. If you’re still aren’t satisfied, you have 90 days to exchange your mattress for one that suits you better.

What’s in a mattress?

Our spring and foam mattresses are made of high quality, meticulously chosen material. They come in a range of sizes and firmness and some have comfort zones to give each part of your body the comfort and support it needs.

Spring mattresses

Spring mattresses use coils to distribute your weight evenly, so there’s no extra pressure on any part of your body. Our spring mattresses have a foam top layer for optimal support and comfort. Air flows more freely through spring mattresses, creating a cooler sleep environment.

Foam mattresses

Like spring mattresses, foam mattresses support and distribute your body weight evenly. Memory foam moulds to your body contours and relieves pressure. Plush foam has a sink-in effect and high resilience foam gives a slightly firmer feel.

Easy add-ons to personalise your mattress

Once you’ve decided on a mattress, personalise your comfort level with a mattress topper. It can help make your bed softer or firmer and help relieve pressure. It can also help keep your bed free of dust and dirt. We have mattress toppers for calm and active sleepers and cooling mattress toppers – perfect for warm sleepers. Mattress toppers are also easy to remove for airing out, and the covers are machine washable.

Keep your mattress fresh
Want to keep your mattress fresher for longer? A mattress protector can help. Choose one that suits your needs – you may want one that helps your bed feel warmer or cooler, or one that is waterproof.

A removable mattress protector can also protect against stains, dirt and dust mites. Best of all, it can easily be popped into the washing machine when it needs a refresh.

More about springs and foam

Springs can be Bonnell springs, which are all connected together, or pocket springs, which are each wrapped in an individual cover and work independently. Foam mattresses contain and combine different kinds of foam, such as high resilience or latex foam. You can machine-wash the covers to keep your bed fresh.
