The vegetarian hot dog

A delicious plant-based alternative

Every year 680 million people enjoy the IKEA Food offer. We see it as both an opportunity and a responsibility to offer food that’s good for people’s health and the planet.

IKEA customers can now enjoy a growing range of delicious plant-based alternatives, including non-dairy soft ice and the highly popular veggie balls. Sustainable food should be delicious and affordable, and we want to make it easier to make better everyday choices. So, when you think about it, a veggie hot dog makes perfect sense.

Since its 2018 launch, we have sold over 10 million IKEA veggie hot dogs around the world

    Seven times less climate impact

Being plant-based, the veggie hot dog is a more sustainable option than its meat-based cousin. Its main raw ingredients are kale, lentils, quinoa, onions and wheat protein – all of which need less land and water than animal protein to grow.

In fact, the overall climate impact of a veggie hot dog is approximately seven times less than that of a classic hot dog. Multiply that by 5 million and you start to see real impact.

    The chocolate you choose matters

Certified cocoa makes a tangible difference to the lives of farmers and the environment. That's why we are proud that the cocoa in our bars, cookies, desserts and other chocolate products are UTZ certified.

When cocoa farmers join the UTZ program, they receive training on farming methods that reduce the use of harmful chemicals. They are also given guidance on how to make water and soil use more sustainable.

This increases production and reduces deforestation of cocoa plantations, which has a positive impact on climate change.

That's why your choice is important. Look for the UTZ logo when you buy chocolate, so you are supporting positive change for many people and the planet.

Making the world a better place with our coffee

Our coffee products are obtained in a responsible way and are made with high quality coffee beans, so you can enjoy great taste at a good price. And it's not all about taste. Our coffee is UTZ certified, which allows us to take care of both the growers and the environment.

    An ocean full of flavor

We obtain all our fish and seafood in a way that respects the delicate marine ecosystems.

All seafood served and sold at IKEA comes from MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified vessels and is harvested from its natural environment. In this way we promote sustainable fishing and protect seafood supplies for future generations.

    A swedish classic at IKEA

Without a doubt, meatballs is the best known of all Swedish dishes, traditionally served with potatoes, lingonberry jam and cream sauce.

The dish is an unexpected meeting of flavours as the lingonberry sweetness contrasts, yet harmonizes, with the meatballs, while the cream sauce serves as a neutral “mediator” between the two. Fall in love with the IKEA meatballs.
