Gift card Terms and Conditions

Ikano Retail Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (hereinafter “IKEA México”), with address on Calle Oriente 158, número 440, Piso 3, Local JD-01, Colonia Moctezuma, Segunda Sección, Alcaldía Venustiano Carranza, C.P. 15500, Ciudad de México, is the company that operates the physical card with the amount of balance purchased by the consumer* which can only be used to pay any products and/or services offered by IKEA Mexico in its physical stores within the United Mexican Estates (hereinafter the “IKEA Gift Card”), pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in this document.

By using or purchasing this IKEA Gift Card you express your acceptance of these terms and conditions:

Use of the IKEA Gift Card

  • IKEA Gift Card can be only used as a payment method of any products and/or services offered by at any IKEA Mexico physical store and only for the amount remaining in the IKEA Gift Card.
  • For the use of the IKEA Gift Card, user needs to present the IKEA Gift Card physically.
  • IKEA Gift Card cannot be:
    -Used in IKEA Mexico's online store: IKEA.mx.
    -Be redeemed for cash or be transferred to another gift card.
    -Used until it is activated at an IKEA Mexico store.
    -Reloaded or returned.
    -Resold or used for publicity, marketing, contests or any other promotional purpose not authorized by IKEA México.
    -The purchase of an IKEA Gift Card cannot be invoiced.
  • IKEA Gift Card must be purchased in IKEA Mexico in its physical stores, and you are responsible for safeguarding your IKEA Gift Card balance from any unauthorized use.
  • You must not use IKEA Gift Card for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • The IKEA Gift Card is not a bank card, either debit card or credit card and the balance of the same will not be refunded at the end of the term in case it has not been used.
  • The IKEA Gift Card must be used for people over 18 years of age.

 

 Validity of the IKEA Gift Card

  • The IKEA Gift Card and the loaded amount will expire 24 (twenty-four) months after the activation in any IKEA Mexico physical store.

 

Activation process of the IKEA Gift Card

  • At any IKEA Mexico physical store checkout counter, cashier will load the amount requested by customer to the IKEA Gift Card.
  • The minimum amount to be loaded to the IKEA Gift Card is $ 200 pesos (two hundred Mexican pesos, legal currency in the United Mexican States) and the maximum amount to be loaded to the IKEA Gift Card is $ 20 000.00 (twenty thousand Mexican pesos, legal currency in the United Mexican States)
  • Customer pays with any IKEA Mexico´s authorized payment methods for the amount loaded and cashier will hand over the IKEA Gift Card to customer.
  • After this, the IKEA Gift Card will be automatically activated.
  • The IKEA Gift Card purchased cannot be recharged and its amount loaded will be the one chosen by the customer at the time of purchase within the authorized amount stated in this section.

 

Balance of the IKEA Gift Card

  • For balance check, you can request it at the Checkouts or at the Exchange and Returns Counter, both located at the IKEA Mexico physical stores or calling at the IKEA Mexico´s Customer Contact Centre at 558310-8310.
  • Balance of the IKEA Gift Card can be use until it is over.
  • If the total amount of your purchase of products or services offered by IKEA Mexico on its physical stores exceeds the balance of your IKEA Gift Card, you should pay the exceed amount with any other payment method authorized by IKEA Mexico at the moment of your purchase.

 

Liability

  • IKEA México is not responsible for the loss, damage or destruction of any IKEA Gift Card or in case the balance is misused by someone else than you.
  • The IKEA Gift Card missed, stolen or damage by the customer, will not be replaced and the amount remaining of the IKEA Gift Card will not be replaced.
  • In case an IKEA Gift Card does not work, your sole right and IKEA Mexico´s sole responsibility will be the replacement of such IKEA Gift Card.

 

Replacement process of an IKEA Gift Card

  • In case the IKEA Gift Card is not working properly because IKEA Mexico´s fault, the customer will have to present the IKEA Gift Card and purchase receipt if possible, at the Exchange and Returns Counter located at the IKEA Mexico physical stores.
  • The co-worker at the Exchange and Returns will support with the transfer of the current balance to a new IKEA Gift Card after validating purchase transaction and date of purchase.

 

Other related terms and conditions

  • In case of the return of a product bought with an IKEA Gift Card, the reimbursement will be made on another IKEA Gift Card. For further information you can review IKEA Mexico Exchange and Return Policy published at www.IKEA.mx
  • These terms and conditions do not alter in any way the terms and conditions of any other web page, product and/or service offered or published by IKEA Mexico.
  • In all matters not contemplated in these terms and conditions expressly applicable to IKEA Gift Card the IKEA México Terms and Conditions of Use published at www.ikea.mx, shall apply in addition.

 

General conditions

  • IKEA Mexico reserves its right to amend these terms and conditions, without prior notice, at any time, in its sole discretion and without notification. Any change or modification will be effective immediately once it is published on IKEA.mx and you hereby waive at this time any right to receive notifications about such amendments by any means.
  • IKEA Mexico reserves the right to cancel any IKEA Gift Card without any liability if IKEA Mexico considers that you have violated these terms and conditions, or that the use the IKEA Gift Card is not authorized, is fraudulent, is illegal, is use or attempt to use against any of these terms and conditions and any reasonable suspicion or dishonesty of you or any illegal use.

 

Jurisdiction

  • In the event of any dispute arising from the application or interpretation of these terms and conditions, IKEA México and the consumer shall submit to the conciliation procedure of the competent Federal Consumer Protection Office or to the jurisdiction of the courts of Mexico City, waiving any other jurisdiction, present or future, that may correspond to them due to their address or any other cause.
