Dear customers and visitors of IKEA México:
In IKEA México, we understand the importance of making good use and care of the personal data of our customers and visitors (hereinafter “The Holders”), and for such purpose we commit to treat your personal data in a legal, confidential form according to the Legal Provisions in force.
Therefore, The Holders are informed that this Privacy Notice has been elaborated pursuant to the Federal Law for the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Entities, its Regulation and the General Guidelines on Personal Data Protection (“the Legal Provisions”).
Entity Responsible for the treatment: Ikano Retail Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (hereinafter “IKEA México”), with address on Calle Oriente 158, número 440, Piso 3, Local JD-01, Colonia Moctezuma, Segunda Sección, Alcaldía Venustiano Carranza, Z.C. 15500, Ciudad de México, is the company responsible to collect, use, treat and protect the personal data of The Holders.
Holder’s consent: The Holders shall be deemed to have given their consent to this Privacy Notice and any amendments thereto, if The Holders have not expressly objected to the Privacy Notice.
Personal data subject to treatment: IKEA México may collect personal data from The Holders through its Store(s), lockers of the service “Click & Collect at IKEA Oceania”, the IKEA store application issued by Inter IKEA Systems, B.V. (the "Application"), the online services provided by IKEA Mexico. (the "Application"), of the services provided online by IKEA Mexico. The Customers Service Center or through our website (https://ikea.mx/).
Personal data that IKEA México can collect from The Holders, according to the purposes of this Privacy Notice, will be the following:
a) Full name.
b) Date of birth.
c) Address.
d) Federal Taxpayer Code.
e) Copy of official ID.
f) Photograph, Image or Videorecording.
g) Contact information, mentioning: telephone numbers (personal or work), emails (personal or work).
h) Signature (original, electronic and/or digital).
i) Bank information related to the payment forms, mentioning: card numbers (credit or debit) and security number bank account, CLABE account, name of the financial institution.
j) In the case of users of IKEA México’s website, information related to the user name, password, IP address, preferences and purchases made, schedule and browsing time in the website, websites opened before and after, and geographic location of the electronic device from which the IKEA Mexico website and/or the IKEA Mexico Application are accessed.
k) Gender.
l) IKEA Mexico loyalty program membership number.
m) Only for lost minors at IKEA Mexico store(s): full name of the minor and age of the minor.
IKEA México will not collect any information related to personal data considered as sensitive. Except when it is necessary for IKEA México to provide the services that have been contracted in accordance with applicable legislation, for which you will be notified of the corresponding privacy notice and your express consent will be obtained.
On the other hand, IKEA México can collect information related to individuals under legal age, provided that it has the direct consent of the individual’s legitimate parents, or tutors, when applicable.
Purposes of treatment: For the legal purposes related to this Privacy Notice, The Holders are informed that their personal data will be used for the following main purposes:
a) For the marketing of products and/or the provision of services that IKEA Mexico offers to IKEA Mexico, either through its Store(s), the Customer Service Center or through our website.
b) To register an account on the IKEA Mexico website, so that IKEA Mexico can receive the shopping cart they have created on the website.
c) To send quotations, process product or service orders, follow up on the status of such orders and coordinate the delivery process to Card Holders.
d) To carry out the payment and invoicing processes requested by IKEA Mexico, as well as to carry out reimbursements and/or compensations from IKEA Mexico to the Owners.
e) To address issues related to customer service, such as: satisfaction surveys, questions, complaints, suggestions, returns and exchanges, as well as to send information related to quality surveys and customer service.
f) To register Card Holders in membership or loyalty programs.
g) To schedule appointments to visit the IKEA Mexico Store(s) or for the provision of services offered by IKEA Mexico to the Registrants.
h) To access the wi-fi service in IKEA Mexico stores.
i) For incident reporting at IKEA Mexico Stores.
j) For wheelchair loan at IKEA Mexico Stores.
k) For locker recovery at IKEA Mexico stores.
l) To report and/or recover lost or found items at IKEA Mexico stores.
m) To perform charge adjustment or price adjustment at IKEA Mexico Stores and to identify possible fraudulent activities.
n) To communicate safety materials of our products.
o) To comply with the obligations under the Federal Law for the Prevention and Identification of Operations with Resources of Illicit Origin and applicable regulations.
p) For security purposes and verification or accreditation of compliance with obligations.
q) To comply with the legal obligations that may be applicable according to the Mexican legislation and the requirements of the competent authorities.
Also, the personal data collected can be used for the following secondary purposes:
a) To send advertising materials related to the products and/or services, current or future, that IKEA México offers to The Holders.
b) To send communications to The Holders related to offers, discounts, promotions, raffles, prizes and special events of IKEA México.
c) To analyze the background and characteristics of the products and/or services that The Holders have contracted in order to elaborate personalized advertising according to their tastes, preferences and needs.
d) To collect, store, use and treat the data of The Holders in a database so as to create accounts or profiles with the history of the products and/or services that are of interest to The Holders, and may use such data for marketing, statistical and prospecting purposes.
If any of The Holders does not agree with the use of his/her personal data for one or many of the secondary purposes, he/she can limit the use of his/her personal data, thus he/she must inform such situation to the Personal Data Department of IKEA México, through an email to the following address: [email protected]. The Personal Data Department of IKEA México must give The Holders the information about the procedure to carry out such limitation of personal data.
Data transfer: It is hereby informed to The Holders that their personal data can be transferred to third parties, for the following purposes:

For the commercialization of products and/or the provision of services that IKEA México offers to The Holders.

We can also share your information with providers and contractors of IKEA services authorized for activities related to the commercialization of products and/or the provision of services that IKEA México offers to The Holders.
Banking institutions
For the processing of payment obligations resulting from the commercialization of products and/or the provision of services that IKEA México offers to The Holders.
Government authorities
To fulfill the legal obligations in charge of IKEA México.
IKEA México will ensure that such third parties maintain appropriate security, administrative, technical and physical measures to process the personal data of The Holders, according to the purposes for which they were collected and in accordance with this Privacy Notice.
In case that IKEA México needs to transfer data to other third parties, it must obtain the previous consent of The Holders and inform them about the purposes for which their data will be transferred. In addition, IKEA México may share information outside of Mexico in which case the care and treatment of data will be under standards similar to those of IKEA México.
Additionally, IKEA México may share the personal data of The Holders with public organizations and institutions, public authorities and other organizations, without any need of authorization, when there is a legal requirement to do so.
Holder’s Rights: IKEA México informs The Holders that, according to the Legal Provisions, they can exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation and objection (“ARCO rights”), which consist in: knowing the personal data collected from them and the form in which they are used (Access); request the correction of their information in case that it is not updated, is inaccurate or incomplete (Rectification); to stop the use and the elimination, in whole or in part, of the information that IKEA México has in its database (Cancelation); as well as to object, in whole or in part, to the use of their personal data for specific purposes (Objection).
The Holders will be the only ones responsible of keeping their information updated, accurate and complete, therefore, in case it is necessary to rectify their data, they must inform IKEA México so that it makes the corresponding modifications. IKEA México will not be liable in any form for the incorrect or inaccurate information received from The Holders.
For the exercise of any of these rights, The Holders must send an email to the following address [email protected]. In the case of ARCO Rights, the Holders must send to that email, the applicable format of those listed below and that are available on the website, completed and with the information indicated there:
IKEA México or the person it appoints must respond to the request within a period of no more than 20 working days, informing The Holders of the determination made.
In case that The Holders exercise their right to cancellation, objection, or wish to revoke their consent, IKEA México must fulfill the appropriate procedures set forth in the Legal Provisions and can only keep the minimum required information to fulfill their legal obligations.
Security measures: IKEA México informs The Holders that their personal data are treated with the greatest confidentiality by their partners and employees; with which it has signed a confidentiality agreement for the treatment of personal data collected according to this Privacy Notice. IKEA México undertakes to take the administrative, technical and physical security measures it deems necessary and sufficient to protect personal data against damage, loss, alteration, destruction, unauthorized use, access or treatment, and to guarantee the confidentiality and security of the information, such as: the use of passwords, firewalls, documentation encryption, among others.
For clarity, IKEA México will not adopt security measures less stringent than those it keeps for the handling of its own information. Likewise, the existing risk, the possible consequences for the holders, the sensitivity of the data and the technological development will be taken into account.
In case there is any kind of infringement (whether derived from neglect, negligence or hacking) to the security measures adopted by IKEA México, it commits itself to identify, contain, mitigate and recover the personal data that has been object of infringement. Afterwards, it must promptly inform The Holders affected by the infringement and the type of data that was subtracted, as well as follow the guidelines and guides set forth by the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) with the purpose of taking the necessary legal measures to respond in face of data infringement.
Use of technologies: It is hereby informed to The Holders that IKEA México’s website uses cookies, web beacons and/or other similar technologies, with the purpose of providing a better experience in their website browsing, as well as to evaluate the satisfaction level with regards to the products or services offered by IKEA México to its consumers. The information that can be collected consists in: information related to the user name, IP address, preferences and purchases made, schedule and browsing time in the website, websites opened before and after. Modifications to the Privacy Notice: This Privacy Notice may undergo notifications, changes or updates derived from our new legal requirements or new privacy practices implemented by IKEA México.
