It has the same functions you can expect from an indoor kitchen: generous, easy-care and hygienic surfaces, good storage and soft-closing doors. But it’s more flexible and completely adapted to outdoor environments. “BÅTSKÄR gives a bespoke feel, but you don’t have to hire a handyman to install it. And you can easily add or remove parts when the needs change. Or take the kitchen with you if you move.”
A place to gather around
For Gunilla and the team it was important to bring the aesthetic aspect outdoors. BÅTSKÄR has clean lines, a matte-grey finish and specially designed knobs and handles. “We didn’t want to only contribute to smooth and practical cooking, but also create a lovely environment with room for everyone to gather and enjoy new flavours and food experiences.” And maybe when we move outdoors, our shoulders go down and we become a little more free. The cooking suddenly feels like a pleasure, even on a Monday evening.

What is stainless steel?
Stainless steel is found in everything from building structures and cars to sinks and knives. It’s easy to see why it has so many uses. Stainless steel is hard and durable and has good resistance to corrosion – namely rust. It generally has a low nickel content, and for IKEA products we mainly use stainless steel that’s nickel-free. Like many other metals, it can be recycled again and again to become new, hardwearing things – without losing its valuable properties.
