[Seoul – October 19] Home furnishing retailer IKEA Korea announced it will open ‘IKEA Lab’, a pop-up offering a wholistic sustainability experience, in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul on November 5. In the new ‘Leap Year of Sustainability’.

Offering great accessibility in the heart of Seoul, IKEA Lab (address: 48 Achasan-ro 17-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul) will be a place for everyone to easily visit and connect with IKEA for fun, engaging information and inspiration for a more sustainable future.

IKEA Lab will be a two-story space with a total area of 914㎡, operating for a duration of 6 months. Visitors will be able to experience a variety of exhibitions and activities, including IKEA’s home furnishing products that showcase the positive impacts of using and buying sustainable materials, the new ‘Interior Design Service’ exclusively available at the IKEA Lab, as well as a variety of exciting workshops. It will also feature ‘IKEA Food Lab’—a space to meet, relax and try a selection of IKEA’s healthy, tasty and sustainable food range.

“As the world faces growing uncertainties in the COVID-19 era, we want to be a part of shaping a new normal that is better for people and planet,” stated Fredrik Johansson, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA Korea. “With the opening of IKEA Lab in November, we look forward to integrating sustainability into people’s everyday life, making it more simple, accessible, and affordable for as many people as possible.”

IKEA Korea will also hold a social media event from October 19 to November 12, inviting people to post photos of the IKEA Lab posters and moss graffiti installed in the Seongsu area on Instagram with hashtag #IKEALab, for a chance to win a surprise gift at the IKEA Lab. More information on the IKEA Lab can be found on the IKEA Lab website.
