[Seoul – April 3] Home furnishing company IKEA Korea announced it will host ‘IKEA Goyang Job Fair’ for three days at the Council Chamber at Dukyang-gu Office in Goyang City from April 6 to 8, to provide information about career opportunities at the IKEA Goyang store which is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2017.

IKEA Goyang store will be the second IKEA store to open in Korea, following the opening of the IKEA Gwangmyeong store. The IKEA Goyang store will be 164,000m² in size, comprising 3 basement floors and 4 ground floors, and will hire a total of 550 co-workers. The job fair will offer candidates who are interested in working at IKEA Goyang the opportunity to learn about IKEA’s culture and values, humanistic HR approach, available jobs at different divisions at the store, as well as information about the company’s compensation and benefits package.

Anyone interested in working at the IKEA Goyang store is welcome to attend the job fair, which will run from 10 am to 5 pm for three days. IKEA Korea co-workers in different divisions, including Sales, Logistics, IKEA Food, Customer Relations, Recovery, and Customer Service Centre will meet with candidates to provide information about the responsibilities in their professional roles and the required knowledge and skills. They will also share their own experience of working at IKEA Korea.

There will not be on-site submission of job applications or interviews at the job fair. Details of available jobs at IKEA Goyang can be found on the IKEA Korea website and applications will be accepted until May 5. Online application results will be announced on May 31, to be followed by interview process which will take place throughout June. New co-workers will begin working in their roles at IKEA Goyang starting July.

The available positions at IKEA Goyang include full-time co-workers, as well as part-time co-workers with flexible working hours of five different opportunities: 16, 20, 25, 28, 32 working hours per week. With this position IKEA wishes to attract and provide opportunities for women who had to leave work due to childbirth and education for children, retired and students who wish to juggle work and study.

IKEA Korea provides same working conditions regardless of contractual hours, same entry salary regardless of contract type. This means co-workers are offered the same benefits package including an insurance policy as well as equal growth and development opportunities, regardless of their contractual hours or contract types. Work stability is also secured for part time co-workers as the employment period is not limited.

Helle Madsen, HR Manager at IKEA Goyang, said “As a value-driven and humanistic company, we are committed to building a great workplace that sees each co-worker as talent. We at IKEA Goyang look forward to working with those who share a positive attitude, passion for home furnishing, and most importantly, the IKEA vision to ‘create a better everyday life for the many people’.”

Globally, 163,600 IKEA co-workers at 340 stores in 28 countries work in a diverse and inclusive environment. IKEA provides equal opportunities in recruitment and development to all people – regardless of age, gender identity, physical ability, ethnicity, race, nationality, religion, or any other dimension of their identity.
