With increasing interest in home furnishing, IKEA FAMILY records 1 million members in Korea

[Seoul – December 5] Home furnishing company IKEA Korea announced that the number of ‘IKEA FAMILY’ members has reached 1 million in Korea. To celebrate this important milestone, IKEA Korea presented an IKEA gift card worth KRW 1 million to the customer who joined IKEA FAMILY as the 1 millionth member at the IKEA Gwangymyeong store on December 4.

Since the opening of the IKEA Gwangmyeong store in December 2014, an increasing interest in home furnishing among Korean consumers has led IKEA Korea to record 1 million IKEA FAMILY members in Korea.

IKEA FAMILY is the IKEA loyalty program that is open to anyone with a passion for home furnishing. Members can sign up free of charge and enjoy a wide range of exclusive benefits, including special offers on a selected range of approximately 200 IKEA products annually and various in-store events as well as home furnishing workshops at ‘IKEA FAMILY DAYS’ held twice a year. IKEA FAMILY members can also enjoy an hour of free home furnishing planning service provided by an IKEA home furnishing consultant. In addition, IKEA FAMILY members that purchase the IKEA Individual Kitchen Measurement and Planning service can get an IKEA shopping card equal to the purchase value, to be used on a future purchase. Information on special offers and various home furnishing ideas are shared with IKEA FAMILY members through the ‘IKEA FAMILY Newsletter’ to help members have a more efficient shopping experience.

The global number of IKEA FAMILY members has recently reached 100 million, which is equivalent to the number of people living in the fourteenth most populated country in the world.

As a part of the ‘Let’s Play for Change’ campaign, IKEA FAMILY members who present their IKEA FAMILY cards at check-out at the IKEA Gwangmyeong store will have a chance to win an IKEA Tack card via a random drawing until December 24.

Meanwhile, IKEA Korea is also continuously seeking to contribute to the local community in engagement with IKEA FAMILY members. As a part of this initiative, IKEA Korea recently hosted a flea market for IKEA FAMILY members to sell the cooking and eating products used for exhibition at IKEA’s ‘Hej JIPBÖP’ held at Times Square, Yeongdeungpo in November. The proceeds from the flea market totaling KRW 5.5 million were donated to Save the Children and will be used to support disadvantaged children in Korea.

“Under the IKEA vision ‘To create a better everyday life for the many people,’ we are focused on offering home furnishing products with innovative design and function at low price for the many customers,” said André Schmidtgall, country retail manager of IKEA Korea, adding, “We would like to thank the 1 million IKEA FAMILY members in Korea who share and support IKEA’s values, and we will continue to make our best efforts to offer better customer service and benefits.”

Anyone can sign up to become an IKEA FAMILY member at the IKEA FAMILY kiosk in the IKEA store or the IKEA FAMILY Korea website (https://ikeafamily.kr/), where visitors can find more information on member benefits.
