Home furnishing retail company IKEA Korea announced that it will launch its ‘Let’s Play!’ campaign on November 21 to raise awareness on children’s right to play and enable children and adults alike to celebrate the power of play in their everyday life at home.

This global campaign was first launched in 2003 by the IKEA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Ingka Group. It aims to promote the importance of play, and its benefits for learning and growing of children and adults. Based on its expertise in play and life at home, IKEA is committed to empower more of the many people to see their home as the most important playground in the world.

During the campaign period, IKEA Korea will offer various events and activities for people to experience the wide range of IKEA home furnishings and build more play into their everyday. The annual ‘Soft Toy Drawing Competition’ will be held from November 23 at IKEA Gwangmyeong, Goyang and the ‘Hej Giheung!’ pop-up for children to express their imagination and creativity, where winning designs will be turned into plush soft toys next year. Any IKEA Family children under 12 years of age can participate; more information about the Soft Toy Drawing Competition is available on the IKEA Family website.

A limited edition of SAGOSKATT collection – consisting of unique soft toys selected from last year’s competition – will also be launched on December 1. The turnover from this collection will be donated to support the children’s right to play through Save the children’s project ‘Keep the Playground’ project. For the past two years, IKEA Korea has contributed to improving the play environment at Buheung Elementary School in Incheon and Naengcheon Elementary School in Goyang. IKEA Korea will continue its efforts to create a happier environment for more children to learn and grow through play.

Visitors at IKEA Gwangmyeong and Goyang can also enjoy special in-store activities including ‘Shark Trails’ event, a fun treasure hunt in which IKEA’s BLÅHAJ shark soft toy are hidden all over the store. There will also be fun opportunities for children to enjoy play with a wide range of Children’s IKEA products.

“Through this year’s Let’s Play! campaign, we hope to inspire both adults and children to see the playful possibilities all around us, in the most important playground in the world—our home,” said IKEA Korea Commercial Manager Nicolas Johnsson. “As experts in play and life at home, we will continue to build on our knowledge and contribute to a better everyday life through play,” he added.

More information about the Let’s Play! campaign can be found on the IKEA Korea website (www.IKEA.kr) starting November 21.
