IKEA Korea completes construction of ‘Gwangmyeong Health Promotion Center’

Over 60 relevant officials including IKEA Gwangmyeong Deputy Store Manager Dimitri Hirsch, IKEA Gwangmyeong HR Manager Louise Harding Zandi and Gwangmyeong City Major Yang Ki-Dae joined the ceremony to celebrate the completion of its construction.
As a part of IKEA Korea’s efforts to become a good neighbour in its community, the Gwangmyeong Health Promotion Center will provide healthcare services to the underprivileged and chronically ill patients residing in the old downtown area of Gwangmyeong City, who previously had difficulty in accessing the distant public health center. The Centre began construction in May 2017 and was completed at the end of January this year. It will be donated to Gwangmyeong City and operated by the Gwangmyeong Public Health Center and open to all Gwangmyeong citizens, including children and senior citizens.
The Center, which is 938.33m² in size and stands at a height of six stories, is furnished with various home furnishing products donated by IKEA Korea. It also includes a health experience zone for children to teach the importance of physical well-being and hygiene, as well as a public health sub-center for the nearby merchants and residents which provides an easier access to public healthcare services.
"We hope that the Gwangmyeong Health Promotion Center will make a meaningful difference in this city, improving the lives of the many people in Gwangmyeong,” said IKEA Gwangmyeong Deputy Store Manager Dimitri Hirsch, adding, “Based on IKEA’s vision ‘to create a better everyday life for the many people’, we will continue to expand our efforts to build a positive long-term relationship with the local community.”
