IKEA Korea signs MoU for collaboration with ‘2021 P4G Seoul Summit’

To drive climate change awareness and promote sustainable living in showrooms
P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) is a network of government, business, and civil society organizations around the world that seeks to develop innovative and concrete public-private partnerships at scale to deliver on the SDGs and Paris Agreement. Following the inaugural summit held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2018, the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit will be held on May 30 and 31 as the first-ever multilateral environmental Summit to be hosted by the Republic of Korea.
Under this year’s theme of ‘Inclusive Green Recovery towards Carbon Neutrality’, global leaders of government, business, civil society, and academia will gather at the opening ceremony and thematic and special breakout sessions. At the business forum on May 27, Juvencio Maeztu, Deputy CEO and CFO of Ingka Group, the parent company of IKEA Korea, will participate as a keynote speaker to present on changes in the ESG management paradigm and sustainable future.
Based on the MoU, IKEA Korea and the P4G Preparatory Office will join forces to ▲ drive various promotional activities for a successful hosting of the summit, ▲ raise public awareness around carbon neutrality, and ▲ exchange information on sustainability projects. In relation to this, IKEA Korea will actively promote the importance of sustainable living in the showrooms in all four IKEA stores, IKEA Gwangmyeong, Goyang, Giheung, and DongBusan, for one month in May, inspiring more of the many to join the movement to protect our planet from climate change.
“We at IKEA Korea strongly support P4G’s aim to form a global consensus on climate crisis and take immediate action,” said Fredrik Johansson, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) at IKEA Korea. “As the global community’s green movement starts in Korea, IKEA Korea will strive to do our part for a successful hosting of the ‘2021 P4G Seoul Summit’ and create meaningful changes by driving the many people’s attention and active participation in this movement.”
Additionally, IKEA Korea recently joined the Sweden+Korea Green Transition Alliance, which brings together the Embassy of Sweden in Seoul, Business Sweden, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, and 13 Swedish companies in Korea who will work together with Korean industrial partners to not only support but also help raise the ambition of Korea’s efforts towards a green and carbon neutral society ahead of 2050.
