How does IKEA assembly service work?

With our Assembly service, a trusted, certified assembly company will assemble your IKEA furniture at your home. You can book the Assembly service at checkout in-store or online, or at any time you like. You can choose between two types of services: IKEA's Assembly service and assembly support from a certified supporter.

IKEA's Assembly Service

Booking and Payment
You can book and pay for Assembly service when you place your order in-store, at the online store, or through our phone order service. If you have already purchased your products, please contact our Customer Support Center (050-4560-0494, open 10:00–18:00).

Booking online:

  1. Add your desired products to your cart on IKEA.jp.
  2. At checkout, enter your postal code to confirm service availability.
    Select the items you want to have assembled.
  3. Review and agree to Assembly Service Terms and Conditions.
  4. After confirming that the correct items are selected for assembly, select two separate dates: one for product delivery and one for assembly.
    • Whether you can book delivery and assembly for the same day depends on your area and availability.
    • Assembly and delivery are handled by different companies. We do not deliver assembled products.
  5. Choose your payment method and complete your purchase.
    • Please note: All fees for products, delivery, and Assembly services are paid through IKEA.
Products for which you cannot apply for assembly services online.
  • Products requiring wall fixing
  • Products requiring installation work, e.g. plumbing
  • Other products that we have set up as "Not online available".
If you require assembly services for any of the above products, please call Customer Support Center.

Changes and Cancellations:
You can change the date and time or cancel the service if needed. Please contact the Customer Support Center by 17:00 at least two days before your scheduled assembly date to make changes or to cancel. A cancellation fee will be charged after this time. If you wish to add more products, please contact the Customer Support Center. We will check availability, let you know if we can add them on the same day, and assist you with your order. If you book and pay for an assembly service online and then place a separate online order for more products with another assembly service, they will be booked on different dates (and separate travel fees will apply).

Preparing for Assembly Day

Please keep the products to be assembled in their original packaging. Place the packaged products in the room where you want them assembled and ensure there is enough space for the certified assemblers to work. For more details on preparing for the service, please review Terms and Conditions.

On the Day of Assembly

On the agreed date and time, the certified assembly company will carry out the assembly work. The assemblers will contact you in advance to confirm the visit time. Assembly service does not include the removal of old furniture. If you wish to have old furniture taken away, please see our Buy-back Service or Sofa and Mattress Take-back Service.

Assembly by Certified Supporters

This service is provided by supporters from the skill-sharing service "ANYTIMES." You can search for and match with an IKEA-certified furniture assembly supporter 24/7 on the ANYTIMES website or app. You can request assembly for even a single piece of furniture at an affordable price. They can also help with various requests, such as finishing furniture that you have only partially assembled yourself.
If you need to disassemble and reassemble furniture, for instance when moving, please contact a certified supporter directly. Please note that some requests may not be possible depending on the product's structure.
