How does the IKEA kitchen measuring service work?
IKEA's kitchen measurement service is designed to provide you with accurate measurement data, the foundation of your kitchen plan, through a simple process. Here, we'll guide you through the steps from the consideration stage to after the measurement is complete.
1. Planning and Preparation
- Gather inspired
Take a look at our kitchen inspiration page or try our online kitchen planner to imagine your ideal kitchen. - Make it "ready for measurement"
For accurate measurements, the kitchen needs to be prepared in the following state: - The wall and ceiling finishes are complete (e.g., plasterboard is installed).
- The connection points for water supply/drainage, gas, electricity, etc., are finalized.
- If possible, the existing kitchen has been removed (this is not mandatory).
- The workspace is cleared so that the specialist can work safely.
2. Booking, Changes, and Cancellations
- How to book
- Book the Kitchen Planning Service online and arrange the measurement service by consulting with our staff during your planning session.
- Book by consulting with staff at the kitchen department of an IKEA store.
- Payment
The exact fee for the kitchen measurement service (¥9,900) will be provided when you book online or at an IKEA store. - Changes and Cancellations
If your plans change, you can change or cancel your booking. Please proceed from the "Cancel" button in the email you receive when you complete the payment online. To be eligible for a refund, you must complete the cancellation at least 48 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
3. Preparation Before the Visit
- Organize conditions and restrictions
Please organize the following points in advance so you can inform the specialist on the day of the visit. - "Hidden" elements that might affect the design (e.g., pipes inside walls).
- Any restrictions or points to note for the visit, such as parking or how to enter the building.
4. On the Day of the Measurement Visit
- Arrival and Duration
The measurement specialist will arrive at the scheduled time. - What the measurement specialist will do
The specialist will collect all the information needed for your kitchen plan. - Take photos of the kitchen space.
- Measure the room's dimensions.
- Note the position and size of windows and doors.
- Locate any obstacles or immovable fixtures.
- Record all utility connection points, including water, gas, electricity, and ventilation.
- What we ask of you
Please inform the specialist of any hidden elements, like pipes in the walls, or special conditions. Please be available during the visit in case they have questions. - Confirmation of service completion
Once all measurements are complete, you may be asked to sign a document to confirm that the service was carried out correctly.
5. Checking the Measurement Data and Starting Planning
- Receiving the measurement data
Within about a week after the visit, the accurate measurement data for your kitchen will be shared with both you and IKEA. - Next steps
You can book a Kitchen Planning session with an IKEA kitchen specialist to proceed with creating your ideal kitchen based on the measurement data. Alternatively, you can use the online kitchen planner to confidently start designing your kitchen yourself.
