What does an IKEA kitchen planning process look like?

This guide will walk you through the in-store kitchen planning process, from the initial consideration stage to the completion of your final plan.

  1. Before your appointment:
Preparing to make the most of your planning session.
A little preparation before your appointment can help you make the most of your planning time. First, get inspired by browsing the kitchen styles on the IKEA website. Most importantly, measure your kitchen space. Accurate measurement is the first step to a successful plan.
To make measuring easier, we have prepared the IKEA "Kitchen Planning Guide." There is also a printable "Kitchen Planning Guide" that you can use as a checklist while measuring. In addition, listing your ideal kitchen features and any current issues you have will help you share them smoothly with the specialist on the day.
  2. Booking your appointment:
Once you are ready, you can book online from the kitchen planning service page. You can book from as early as two days after your application date. If all slots are booked, please check again later. Reservation slots for the following months will be released sequentially.
  3. Receiving your booking confirmation email:
Once your booking is complete, you will receive a confirmation email with the selected date, time, and location.
The email will also include information on what to prepare for the day of your planning session.
The preparation details vary depending on the booking location (in-store/online) and time.
  4. Changing or cancelling your appointment:
We understand that plans can change. If you wish to change or cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance using the "Change Booking" or "Cancel" button in your confirmation email.
If you cannot find the buttons in the email, please contact the Customer Support Centre (050-4560-0494, open 10:00–18:00).
  5. Preparing for the day of your appointment
On the day, please prepare the following:
    - The measurement results of your kitchen space.
    - If you have them, floor plans (for checking the delivery route for large items).
    - Any inspiration photos or ideas you have collected.
    - A list of your ideal kitchen features and any current issues.
If you have already created a plan in the kitchen planner, please have your plan number or login information ready. This will allow for smooth access to your plan.
  6. The consultation process (on the day of your appointment):
At your scheduled time, an IKEA kitchen specialist will support you through the following process:
    a. Confirming measurements and understanding your needs
The specialist will review your measurements and discuss how you use your kitchen and your priorities to help organize a user-friendly plan.
    b. Creating/adjusting the plan using the kitchen planner
Together, you will create and refine your new kitchen using the IKEA kitchen planner.
    c. Support with product selection
We will help you choose products that fit your style and budget, including appliances and custom-made worktops.
Please note that advice on structural changes, such as removing walls, or moving plumbing and wiring for water, gas, or electricity, is not included. We recommend consulting a professional for these matters.
  7. What you'll receive after your appointment
At the end of the session, you will receive a complete plan package that includes a 3D plan of your new kitchen, a full product list, and a price estimate for your kitchen.
If you wish, we can help you place an order on the spot, or you can take the plan home to consider it carefully. If you decide later, please book another kitchen planning appointment.
