How do I get started with the METOD kitchen planner?

With IKEA's kitchen planning tool, you can start designing freely from scratch, or you can choose from pre-made design suggestions and start from there.

Before you start

  • Before you start creating your ideal kitchen, we recommend that you Login to your IKEA Family profile. By logging in, you can save your created plans to the planning tool, and if you want to take a break, you can easily resume from where you left off later.
  • Also, before you start planning, measure the size of the space where you will install the kitchen. By confirming the dimensions, you can check whether the designed kitchen will fit properly in the actual space.

Open the kitchen planner

  • First, open the kitchen planner and click "Plan and design your kitchen."
The first time you use it, a screen will be displayed for you to select a type, layout type, etc., that is close to your preference. You can change these settings later, or you can choose to "Design from scratch."
  • Next, choose the shape of the room that is closest to your kitchen. Then, enter the dimensions of the room and start placing the first cabinets and appliances in your kitchen.

Troubleshooting when starting the kitchen planner

  • If you cannot access the kitchen planner, try launching it in a different web browser. It is also effective to disable or delete your browser's cache and cookies before reloading the page. If you do not know how to do this, please search for instructions on a search engine such as Google, along with the name of your browser.
  • The planner is designed to be easy to use on a standard desktop or laptop computer. On mobile devices such as smartphones, a message may be displayed saying, "The planner is only available on large screens." If you see this message even though you are using a large-screen device, try changing the screen resolution from your OS settings and setting it to the highest available resolution. Also, try reducing the browser's display magnification (e.g., change it to 90%).
  • If you still cannot access the tool, there may be a temporary problem. Please wait a while and try to access it again.
