My lamp is missing the plastic ring to hold the shade on

Double check the instructions as it is often screwed on still.

The plastic shade securing ring is often pre-installed and just needs to be unscrewed first. If this isn't attached and not in the box, please return to your local store with the item and proof of purchase.
