How to style your coffee table

So much more than a surface for mugs and TV remotes, a coffee table offers all sorts of potential to brighten up your lounge. A glass coffee table makes for an elegant, subtle addition to the room, while a coffee table with storage is perfect for creating space for a striking centrepiece. Need some design inspiration? Here are a few ways you can make your coffee table the focal point of your living room.

Trust in age-old tricks

There are three go-to coffee table staples to accessorise with: books, candles and flowers. A carefully selected stack of books and magazines that you can look through will add colour, texture and a personal touch to your living room, while candles allow you to create a cosy ambience.

Flowers make a striking coffee table centrepiece, but they’ll need replacing frequently, so you may want to consider plants as an alternative. They add just as much vibrancy and should last longer when cared for properly. If you don’t have the greenest of fingers, try small succulents which require very little maintenance.

Get creative

Prefer to make a statement? Be adventurous with your coffee table and use it as somewhere to display more unusual trinkets and ornaments.

Alternatively, your coffee table could be the perfect place for a special ornament or souvenir you’ve picked up from your travels, or any antiques or collectibles you’ve been wanting to display.

Don’t go overboard

While it’s the decorative touches that will make your coffee table stand out, you don’t want it to look cluttered. Limit your arrangement to specific areas or the centre of the table, making sure there’s still space for food and drink. Keep things simple so as not to overwhelm the eye, especially if you’ve got a glass coffee table.

If you choose a coffee table with storage, you can keep your books, magazines and other living room essentials in this space while making the surface all about your own personal style.

Now that you’ve seen our tips for a successful coffee table display, it’s time to put them into practice. Liven up your lounge with a coffee table from our extensive collection.
