How do I mount a filler piece?
There are several good ways to mount a filler piece, for example with angle brackets or with the help of a batten or block that is screwed behind the filler piece.
Mounting a filler piece between the wall and cabinet
One of the simplest ways to mount a filler piece is by screwing a batten or block into the filler piece (be careful not to screw through the filler piece). Then place the filler piece where it should be and screw it in place by screwing through the cabinet into the batten/block. This way, the filler piece will be in the correct position relative to the cabinet.
It is also possible to attach filler pieces with angle brackets. In this case, screw the angle brackets into the filler piece and then attach it to the cabinet or wall at the top and bottom. You can buy the angle brackets at a well-stocked hardware store.
Mounting a filler piece in a “dead corner”
A so-called “dead corner” is a corner where you choose not to use our corner cabinets, but instead create your own solution and leave the space under the countertop empty.
To still achieve a neat corner, you can use two filler pieces that are mounted to look like a corner from the front. These filler pieces can also be attached with angle brackets or similar to the frames next to them.
