What is the difference between KALLAX and EXPEDIT?
The KALLAX storage system is a now improved version of EXPEDIT, which was discontinued from our range in 2011. KALLAX has a number of improvements such as improved design, packaging and scratch resistance. So if you are looking for a worthy replacement for your EXPEDIT, we recommend KALLAX. Please note that KALLAX and EXPEDIT are not compatible.
In comparison to EXPEDIT, KALLAX has:
- Updated design with thinner lines.
- More efficient to transport.
- Rounder corners to reduce the risk of injury in the event of a collision.
- More scratch-resistant surface.
With these improvements to the furniture, we decided to rename it KALLAX, but if you have an EXPEDIT shelf at home, this is still compatible with KALLAX interiors. The inner dimensions of the shelves are therefore the same, so you can use the same storage boxes and inserts with drawers/doors for your KALLAX as you had in EXPEDIT. The dimensions differ between the two because the frames on KALLAX are smaller than on EXPEDIT.
Please note that the undercarriage of EXPEDIT is not compatible with KALLAX.
