Why did IKEA change kitchen systems from FAKTUM to METOD?
A lot has happened since we introduced the FAKTUM kitchen system in the 1990s. Our needs and expectations in the kitchen have evolved, and by replacing the system we were able to carry over the best parts of FAKTUM while creating a new, more modern and flexible solution. METOD is built on modular dimensions rather than the continental measurements used in FAKTUM.
METOD was launched in 2013 and replaced FAKTUM. With this change, the range was updated in both format and size. There are no major price differences between the two systems for a complete kitchen, and METOD offers more options and greater flexibility, making it easy to adapt to different budgets and tastes.
