Setting the table for your Christmas dinner has never been easier. With this curated selection you will easily find everything you need to create a festive and memorable holiday meal for you and your loved ones. The Christmas season is the perfect time for families to come together and enjoy a delicious meal. To make your Christmas family dinner even more special, express the festive spirit through dinnerware and cutlery.

Setting the table for a joyful Christmas dinner

Start by choosing a table cloth or a table runner in a classic Christmas colour, such as red or green. Then, add some sparkle to your table with candle holders and candles. Whether you prefer traditional taper candles or modern tea lights, there is a variety of options to choose from.

Carefully choose dinnerware to best reflect both the holiday spirit, but also your personal style. Mix and match different colours and patterns to create a playful look, or keep it classic with a simple white set. Add some coordinating glassware, such as wine glasses or champagne flutes, for an extra touch of elegance. Don't forget the finishing touches! Add some fresh greenery, such as a wreath or garland, to the centre of the table.

Decorating your home during the Christmas season

Just before Christmas, Swedish homes are decorated with all types of ornaments, candles, runners, wall hanging art, and decorative figures. Winter greenery such as lingonberry and pine sprigs are hung as garlands. Swedish Christmas trees are taken very seriously and decorated according to family tradition. Some with flags, others with tinsel and coloured ornaments. Complete the look of the Christmas tree with colourful tree ornaments & accessories.

Set the mood with lights for Christmas

Lights and candles are important, especially in the events leading up to and around Christmas. Star-shaped lamps and Christmas lights are placed in windows, making homes cosy on the inside and sparkling in the darkness for people outdoors. They bring warmth and brightness into Swedish homes during the time of year when daylight is limited.

Organise a glögg party

Organising a glögg party can be a fun and festive way to celebrate the winter season with family and friends.  They are common social events in the weeks leading up to Christmas where you share glögg (hot spiced wine) with family, friends or even colleagues. The winter months leading up to Christmas are a popular time for glögg parties, but you can also host one in January or February.

Dare to be brave and prepare your own glögg for the party. Glögg is traditionally served warm. You can try many different recipes. Most recipes will include red wine, spices (such as cinnamon and cloves), sugar, almonds and raisins. Along with the glögg, you may want to serve some traditional Swedish food such as meatballs, herring, or gingerbread cookies. You can also ask your guests to bring a dish to share.
