How does IKEA assembly service work?
With our assembly service, our trusted assembly partners can install your IKEA furniture in your home. You can book assembly in store or online during checkout, or at a later stage through IKEA Customer Service.
- Book and pay for the assembly service in-store or online during your checkout process. You can also book with IKEA Customer Service.
a) Add your products to your shopping bag on IKEA.co.nz.
b) Click on “Check delivery availability” and enter your postcode to check service availability.
c) If assembly is available, the assembly service option will appear on eligible products.
d) Select this service on eligible products before proceeding to checkout.
e) You will be shown the cost of assembly for each item and the total assembly service cost.
f) Proceed to the checkout to select your dates: one for product delivery and one for assembly.
e) Choose your payment method and complete your purchase. Please note you pay for both the products, delivery service and assembly service through IKEA.
f) Save your documents and spare parts just in case. If you have a design code, please ensure you save this as a PDF for the assembly partner to refer to.
a) Visit the Home Delivery desk in the Returns & Exchanges area, located just after the checkout.
a) Contact the remote shopping team with IKEA Customer Service.
- Check your email or phone for a message from our assemblers as that will include the next steps. You’ll receive a welcome email, SMS, or phone call and booking confirmation from our assembly partner 24-48 hours before your scheduled booking.
- Change or reschedule if needed. If you need to reschedule or cancel your assembly service, you can do so by contacting IKEA Customer Service.
You can reach IKEA Customer Service by typing "I want to talk to a human" in the chat. Alternatively, you can call (+64) 9802 4864.
Please note that you may be charged a call-out fee if you cancel your assembly service less than 24 hours before the agreed date and time. - Leave your to-be-assembled products in the original packaging. Place the packages in the room where you want them to be assembled and make sure that the room is a safe area for the assembly partner to perform the assembly. The service assumes a clear and levelled space for assembly to take place. Enough space is required for the packages to lie flat, leaving an additional 50 cm clearance around it. Your assembly provider will provide information about how to prepare for the service. However, for some good-to-know basics, visit the IKEA assembly service page.
- The assembly provider will arrive at your home or office to complete the assembly at the agreed-upon date and within the estimated arrival time.
