IKEA recalls certain NYMÅNE wall lamps due to risk of electric shock

IKEA urges all customers who own the affected NYMÅNE wall lamp to stop using it and contact IKEA for a full refund. Due to a manufacturing error, the insulation of a cable is insufficient, resulting in the risk of electric shock. Affected products can be identified via date stamp and supplier number (all details below).

 

Affected IKEA products: 

  • NYMÅNE wall lamp double, white, article no.: 204.286.47

 

Affected date stamps (YYWW): Starting from date stamp 2217 until 2550, and with supplier number 23241. Products with date stamps prior to 2217 and after 2550 or with another supplier number are not in scope of this recall. 

Why is this product not safe to use?

Safety is a top priority for IKEA, and therefore, we are recalling certain date stamps of NYMÅNE wall lamp due to the risk of electric shock.

During their development, IKEA products are risk assessed and thoroughly tested to make sure they comply with relevant requirements and regulations in all markets where IKEA operates. Despite this, it has come to our attention that certain NYMÅNE wall lamps pose a safety risk due to an insufficiently insulated cable, resulting in the risk of electric shock if the cable is damaged. Therefore, NYMÅNE wall lamps that may be affected by this manufacturing error are being recalled.

 

What should customers do?

Customers who own one of the affected NYMÅNE wall lamps should immediately stop using it and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund.

NYMÅNE wall/reading lamp: Date stamp and supplier number can be found on a sticker inside the lamp shade (light source needs to be removed).

NYMÅNE wall lamp double: Date stamp and supplier number can be found on stickers on the backside of the lamp. 

Customers shall always unplug the wall lamp before interacting with it. 

Please spread the word about this recall, especially if the recalled product was offered, lent or sold to someone else.

 

 What remedy can customers expect?
