Classic Swedish herring & egg sandwich

Create fast, refreshing summer meals with marinated herring! This delicious herring and egg sandwich is perfect for an affordable and savoury brunch, lunch or party starter.

Ingredients:

250 g (1 jar) SILL DILL marinated herring with dill

4 KNÄCKEBRÖD RÅG rye crispbread

4 small potatoes, boiled

2 eggs, boiled

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp mayonnaise

4 tsp red onion, finely chopped

2 tsp chives, finely chopped

Step by step

  1. Drain the herring.
  2. Cut the potatoes and eggs into thin slices.
  3. Spread butter on the crispbread and layer the potato and egg slices on top.
  4. Spread mayonnaise over the top, followed by a sprinkle of red onion.
  5. Place the herring on top, and garnish with chives.

    Tip!
    If you don’t have crispbread, try soft rye bread for a tasty alternative.
