What is polyester?
Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. "When the natural and wild meet the human and controlled, an exciting energy arises. Working with these pictures of different flowers and floral arrangements has been a true dream project. We were inspired by vegetation found in gardens and in the countryside throughout southern Sweden – and by a desire to explore what happens when they are captured on camera. The pictures are a way to bring nature into your home and may even evoke a desire in someone to start gardening!"
