What is polyester?
Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. “Nowadays, the bed is not only a place where you sleep, but also work, study, watch TV series – and socialise digitally with friends and family. That’s why one of my ideas with IDANÄS upholstered bed frame was to make the sloping headboard as comfy as the backrest of a sofa. Another that it should give a calm and cosy impression, but still feel light, stylish and elegant. Most of all, I hope many people will love this piece of furniture and spend a lot of time in it!"
