Terms and Conditions of the Buyback Used Products Service

With the Buyback service, we help you prolong the life of your IKEA furniture. We buy back your used IKEA furniture in return for an IKEA voucher, then resell it in our As-Is area at an affordable price, giving someone else the opportunity to use it again.

This service supports our direction to become more sustainable and more positive for people and the planet. We only buy back furniture items that were used for personal purposes and do not accept furniture used for business or commercial purposes.

IKEA does not provide any warranty, guarantee, or undertaking, whether express or implied, to purchase any used products unless IKEA’s approved Buyback Used Products form is signed.

To participate, please follow the steps shown on our website. Once completed, you will receive an initial estimated buyback value for your IKEA furniture. This estimate is valid for 30 days only and is not binding on IKEA. IKEA has the right to determine the final value and/or refuse to buy back the used products in accordance with these terms and conditions.

The final buyback amount will be confirmed after you deliver your IKEA Used Products to the As-Is area in the IKEA store for inspection by IKEA co-workers. The final buyback amount may differ from the initial estimated buyback quote based on the actual physical inspection, including, but not limited to, any difference between the photos, description, and products condition that are uploaded online and the actual condition of the products during the physical inspection. IKEA offers its customers home inspection and collection service, and this service is subject to a fixed, non-refundable fee and below terms and conditions.

IKEA determines the fee for the home inspection and collection service and may amend it from time to time at its sole discretion. If you request this service, the fee must be paid in advance and is non-refundable under all circumstances, including if IKEA does not agree to buyback the products or if you do not accept the final purchase value. The furniture must be fully assembled and complete at the time of inspection, as the service does not include disassembly or assembly.

Our final acceptance to buyback any product will only take place after confirming that the products to be sold are IKEA products and after verifying their condition and suitability for a resale voucher.

If we do not accept your used IKEA furniture, we will offer you the option to recycle the item or dispose of it. If your used furniture is accepted, you will receive an IKEA voucher for the agreed value, subject to these terms and conditions and to the Buyback Used Products form completed at the time of purchase and product handover.

Vouchers are issued on the date the buyback process is completed. Vouchers are valid for up to six (6) months from the issuance date. Vouchers can be used in the IKEA store for purchasing IKEA products as determined by IKEA except for purchasing IKEA Food, including the Restaurant, Bistro and Swedish Food Market, and/or any As-Is products. The final buyback amount offered by the IKEA co-worker after the actual physical inspection is final and non-negotiable. IKEA reserves the right to determine, from time to time and at its sole discretion, which products can be purchased using vouchers. You must visit the main IKEA store to collect the voucher within six (6) months from the issuance date. IKEA will not be responsible for compensating you for the voucher value or extending the voucher validity if you fail to collect it or use it during its validity period for any reason.

The voucher, and all rights to redeem or use it, will automatically expire at the end of its stated validity period. After expiry, the voucher will have no value, may not be redeemed, reissued, replaced, extended or exchanged for cash, and IKEA will have no obligation to compensate the customer for any unused value.

The table below shows how we price used furniture.

1. As new – The product shows no visible signs of use and is in like-new condition.

        • Comparable to a showroom or newly assembled item.

2.  Very good – The product has been used but well maintained, with only minor wear.

        • No cracks, breaks, or structural damage.
        • All parts are present and functional.
        • Wear is limited to normal use and does not impact resale quality.

3.  Well-used – The product shows clear signs of regular or long-term use.

        • May show fading or worn surfaces.
        • Product remains functional and safe but has a reduced resale appeal.
        • No missing essential parts and no safety risks.

The specific products that are eligible for BuyBack are not listed here but will include the following:

• Chest of drawers and bedside tables
• Bookcases, shelving units
• Display cabinets and sideboards
• Office storage
• Small tables and dining tables
• TV benches and media storage units
• Desks
• Chairs and stools (excluding upholstered or leather chairs and stools)
• Children’s furniture (cots, bed frames, storage, tables, chairs and stools)
• Table and floor lights
• Plant pot stands and indoor pots
• Home decoration products (artificial plants and flowers, vases & bowls, mirrors, picture frames & picture ledges)

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accept items from the categories listed below. However, we are always looking for new opportunities to improve our services so do check back in the future.

• Non-IKEA products
• Component parts
• Hacked or modified products
• Non-assembled IKEA products
• Products that have been used outside, including outdoor furniture
• Upholstered Beds (excluding extendable children's beds)
• Mattresses & bed textiles (such as blankets and mattress toppers)
• Sofas/armchairs
• Other soft goods (pillows, towels, curtains, etc.)
• Kitchens including worktops, cabinets and fronts
• System wardrobes (incl. PAX and interiors)
• Other over-sized items
• Appliances and other electrical items
• Children's mattresses and textiles
• Upholstered or leather products
• Bathroom accessories
• Cookware and tableware
• Rugs
•  Artificial flowers

Possession and ownership of the used products transfer to IKEA finally and irrevocably once the customer signs the Buyback Used Products form and the IKEA co-worker receives the product. The customer has no right to request the return of the product or withdraw from the sale after signing the acknowledgment and handing over the products to IKEA for any reason.

These terms and conditions apply to all customers, whether individuals or legal entities, who purchase any product displayed in the As-Is section and classified as used products.

The purchasing customer acknowledges and agrees that the products displayed in this section are used or pre-owned and are sold in their as-is condition at the time of purchase.

By purchasing a used product, the customer acknowledges that that customer has inspected and examined the product carefully, that the inspection removes any uncertainty, that they have not found any defect or issue preventing its use for its intended purpose, and that they accept the product in its current condition.

Without prejudice to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law, no warranty or guarantee applies to used products sold through the As-Is section. IKEA is not liable for any impact on the product resulting from previous use, including any defects, damage, scratches, missing parts, or signs of wear caused by prior use. The purchasing customer is solely responsible for inspecting and testing the product in store and confirming its suitability and usability for its intended purpose before completing the purchase.

All products purchased from the Resale section are sold as-is and are excluded from our standard return and exchange policy. As a result, used products purchased from the As-Is area cannot be returned or exchanged for any reason, and the customer cannot request a cash refund or voucher refund for their value.
