A pull of the strings on IKEA PS 2014 pendant lamp gives the faintly glowing globe a shape that looks like a spaceship where light flows out of it. Made of black transparent plastic that’s partly recycled.

Use a clear light bulb if you have a lamp shade or lamp with a perforated or cut-out pattern or other airy, open design and want the pattern to cast effects on the wall and ceiling.

Use an opal light bulb if you have an ordinary lamp shade or lamp and want an even, diffused distribution of light.

Special waste handling may be required. Please contact your local authorities for more information.

Frustrating Installation and Poor Instructions Make This Pendant Lamp a HassleShaneThis product is a massive pain to install, and the method provided in the instructions isn't intuitive. Since the cup isn't compatible with standard Irish ceiling roses, the instructions advise installing a flimsy hook into the ceiling, then wrapping the excess cable around it inside the cup and twisting — which, according to the instructions, should make it flush with the ceiling. Unfortunately, there's so much excess cable provided that it's impossible to achieve this, and you'll never get the cup flush with the ceiling unless you cut a significant portion of the cable. However, the instructions don't offer any guidance on this and just assume their single method will work. My other concern is that IKEA believes a tiny hook screwed into the ceiling is better than a ceiling rose secured by rawl plugs. In conclusion, I'd avoid this product. If you still want to attempt it, be prepared to cut the cable beforehand or pay an electrician to do it.1
Great unique light with a fun vibe!NaoiseGreat looking light whether open or closed, with a "Death Star" vibe. I will need a stronger light bulb, though (using E27). When open, it has a good spread of light and is a bit of a talking piece. The neighbours admire it, too. :-) Assembly is easy enough, though the installation was a bit fiddly which is not the fault of the light but rather the previous light not using a cable hook.4

"I've always been a big fan of science fiction, which is easy to guess when you see IKEA PS 2014 pendant lamp. When it's closed, only a little light finds its way through the small gaps and transparent plastic of the globe, but a pull of the strings creates a distance between the parts and light flows out. The shape looks like a spaceship, but this lamp is much easier to assemble. You just click the parts together and it’s ready to float over the dining area or coffee table."
