Overpowering odour on an otherwise excellent duvet.PaulaI bought this item a few weeks ago, and even after airing it outdoors for a couple of days, an unpleasant odour remains. I put it on the bed but the smell has permeated the duvet cover. It's unfortunate, because apart from that it's a very well made and comfortable item. 3

How to care for your down/feather duvet

With a little care, you can prolong the life of your down/feather duvet and keep it fresh. The filling has a natural smell which can be reduced by airing or washing. Wash the duvet separately with a mild detergent (1/3 of the normal amount) on delicate cycle at 60°C. Avoid bleach/fabric softeners. Tumble dry immediately on low heat. A dryer ball or a high-quality tennis ball in the dryer will ensure more efficient drying. Air your duvet regularly, if possible, in direct sunlight.
