How does IKEA Kreativ work?

1: Interactive digital showrooms

The most basic new feature on IKEA.com and IKEA app is the “interactive digital showrooms”, where we provide images of pre-existing room designs that you can customise.   

This experience doesn’t involve having to scan your own space – you can either select from an empty room template or from a fully designed space.  You can easily add, remove, swap, and move products in these rooms, save your design ideas, and share them with friends and family. You can also buy or favorite any of the items they like, and checkout digitally. 

You can access the interactive showroom on our website by visiting our website IKEA Kreativ - Virtual and mixed reality room design for UK and IKEA Kreativ - Virtual and mixed reality room design for Ireland. In the IKEA app, you can find IKEA Kreativ on the home screen.  We will continue to add new showrooms to the experience and are developing more immersive ways for you to experience them.

2: Scan Your Room and Design it

With this mixed reality feature, you can capture a wide-angle image of your home with the IKEA App that you can then add 3D IKEA furniture into. The IKEA furniture is displayed at the correct, adjusted scale, will realistically match the lighting of the your space, and interact with the other objects in the room. 

The feature works by you taking photos of your room, which are analyzed and processed into a single wide-angle 3D image that is stored in your IKEA profile. You can access the interactive showroom on our website by visiting our website IKEA Kreativ - Virtual and mixed reality room design (UK) and IKEA Kreativ - Virtual and mixed reality room design for Ireland. In the IKEA app, you can find IKEA Kreativ on the home screen. 

You can also digitally erase items in your room scan that you want to remove to create a better design experience (e.g. an old sofa, or room clutter). The erase capability is available in-app and on the web and allows you to erase all items in the space and/or to remove selective items. 

Just as with the interactive showrooms, you can design with a wide range of items. You can access furniture, accessories, wall décor, rugs, and wall-mounted furniture.
