Why thick wood veneer worktops?

Choosing wooden worktops is a great way to add natural beauty to your kitchen. And they are highly practical too. Wood is naturally resistant to germs and bacteria. One thing to consider with a thick veneer worktop is maintenance. Wooden worktops need to have water and stains cleaned immediately to avoid damage. Wood is not very scratch resistant, but scratches can easily be sanded out. The worktop should also be oiled at regular intervals to avoid the wood drying out.

Wood and butcher block kitchen worktops

Worktops with a top layer of wood have all the qualities of solid wood, enhanced by modern technology. Our thick veneer worktop are made with a 3mm thick wood layer on particleboard. This increases the stability and makes them less likely to split or crack. They can be sanded down to remove minor scratches, and will keep their natural beauty over the years. For kitchen worktops that require minimal maintenance, consider our laminate worktops.

Get the look of solid wood with veneer:

  • Oak worktops: Oak is a hardwood, making it a popular choice for worktops and interiors. Its colour ranges from light brown to a rich reddish–brown and it darkens with age.
  • Birch worktops: Birch is fine-grained and pale in colour with a satin-like sheen that darkens with age. It often has knots or heartwood in cream or light brown which will give your worktop a unique and distinct natural look.
  • Walnut worktops: The natural colour and grain of wood adds warmth to your kitchen decor. Walnut gets lighter in colour with age. It has a rich variation in colour and a decorative, curved grain pattern.
  • Ash worktops: This is a blonde hardwood with a beautiful grain pattern. The variations in the colour make each worktop unique and give it a distinctive natural look. It gets gradually darker with age.
