Is your extractor hood working at its best?
A greasy filter can slow things down. When clogged, it’s less effective at removing smoke, cooking fats and odours. It can even increase fire risk. A quick clean every 2-3 months (or more often if you’re a fan of frying) keeps it running smoothly – and your kitchen smelling fresh. All IKEA extractor hoods have removable, dishwasher-safe grease filters. Prefer to wash by hand? Just use warm water and a little washing-up liquid. Let the filters air dry, then pop them back in!
Quality
Sensitive to noise or have an open-plan home?
For extractor hoods, a noise level below 60 dB is considered low – roughly equivalent to a normal conversation between two people. We measure the noise level of our hoods at max speed, making it easier to compare different models. Note that sound levels decrease at lower speeds, and recirculating hoods are typically louder than those vented outdoors. Noise may also increase if the ducting is long or has several bends, as the air has to work harder to pass through the system.
