Removal service

With IKEA removal service, we'll take care of the old when we deliver the new. That's no stress, heavy lifting or problem solving for you. And you can trust us to recycle, reuse or retire your old things in whatever eco-friendly ways are available.

The price of removal service is 25,- /item and can be purchased as part of the In-home Delivery. The total price therefore consists of the amout of items recycled and delivery. Removal service can be purchased when you buy a new mattress, sofa/armchair or appliance from us. The service makes it easy for you to make room for your new purchase and ensure that your old product is properly recycled. 

 Removal service options and pricing 

What our removal service can take away for you is shown below. The price of the removal service is 25 euros / recyled item. For example, if you have bought 3 mattresses, you can leave the same number of mattresses for recycling. You can also bring the mattress, sofa or appliance you want to recycle to our store when you buy a new one - in this case we will recycle your old product free of charge. Please protect the product with, for example, a waste bag or packaging plastic before bringing it to the store.

If you have old IKEA furniture in good condition and can transport it to the store yourself, you can get an IKEA voucher through our Second hand service. If you want to recycle items such as packaging, light bulbs and batteries, you can bring them to IKEA for recycling. 

Mattress removal upon In-Home Delivery, starting from 25,-

Have us take your old mattress when we deliver your new one. Just state you want removal, too, when you book delivery.

When we deliver a sofa or an armchair, we can remove your old ones. Indicate you want removal when booking delivery.

Kitchen dismantling and removal

When you order a new kitchen installation or old kitchen dismantling through our partner, our partner can also take away your old furniture if you wish and recycle it properly - in a way that minimises its environmental impact. Please mention this when ordering the service.

When you order a new bathroom installation or dismantling through our partner, our partner can also remove and recycle your old furniture - in a way that minimises its environmental impact. Please mention this when ordering the service.

How IKEA removal service works

  1. Buy the new IKEA products you want, need and love. If you have an old mattress, sofa/armchair or an appliance and you buy a new one, you can recycle your old one through us. The removal service is available with In-Home Delivery.
  2. Booking procedures vary, but all booking must be done prior to your IKEA delivery service date. When shopping in an IKEA store or planning studio, you can ask a member of our staff to add removal to your order or mention this in the remote design service. The recycling service cannot be combined with Home Package delivery or Doorstep Delivery. When shopping online, please book the service immediately after placing your order, following the instructions on the order confirmation.
  3. When booking removal service we confirm the content, time, place and method of delivery 
  4. Prepare your products. You'll be given instructions upon booking. Or you can read full details now in the Good-to-know basics.
  5. On removal day, ensure all products can be safely and smoothly removed from your home. Say tack and hej då (thanks and goodbye) to your old things.
  6. Rest assured knowing you're doing a good thing. All old furniture is recycled to recover raw materials or incinerated with energy recovery. It's a part of how we're moving towards circular economy and climate positivity. Enjoy your new purchase!

 Good-to-know basics

  • We only remove and dismantle furniture when dismantling and recycling your kitchen or bathroom. If a piece of furniture is too large to be carried whole, it must be dismantled in its entirety. 
  • Old products will be collected from the same location as the In-Home Delivery.
  • Please protect the item with a waste bag or plastic wrap, for example, before bringing it to the store. 
  • The recycling service is always carried out at the same time as the new products are delivered. Regardless of what time the recycling service is printed in the system.
  • We'll take the same number of items for removal as your purchased. If you bought one sofa, we'll remove one.
  • Appliances  must be unplugged, freely accessible, disconnected from water/electricity, and drained of food, water, etc.
