We’ve detailed everything about our generous IKEA return policy – which is the same for all customers and all channels – on this page.
At IKEA, it’s OK to change your mind. Sometimes what seemed perfect for your home, office or garden, just isn’t. Returning a product to us is convenient and hassle-free, no matter how or where it’s bought. You can return any product – including plants, food or custom countertops – to any store and via any channel.

You can return anything unopened IKEA product within 365 days, for a full refund. No rush, no complicated conditions.
Returning opened IKEA products
We want to give you the chance to try out how the products look in the places we have designed for them. We also accept opened and assembled, but unused IKEA products within 365 days. Mattresses, duvets and pillows have a separate 90-night trial period.
IKEA products that can’t be returned
Only dirty, stained, damaged or adapted products are excluded from our IKEA return policy. But if it's still in good condition you can always sell it back to us, read more about how that works.
Things to note: IKEA returns, IKEA refunds and IKEA exchanges
- When you return anything, please bring your receipt.
- We issue refunds in the payment form used to buy the product.
- Can’t find your receipt? If you have swiped your IKEA family-card, we will help you to locate the receipt.
- More than 365 days since you bought your product? You can still return it as part of our IKEA Second Hand service.
- If your product is damaged, you can file a claim at IKEA.
- We offer a free IKEA spare parts service as part of our commitment to prolonging product life. For IKEA Family members, our Oops-assurance covers accidental transportation or assembly damages and breakages.
The IKEA ‘Love it or exchange it’ policy
We always want you to be happy with your purchase, which is why we offer a 365-day exchange and return policy on all products when you return an unused item.
After trying a product, you may find that you and your new mattress, pillow or duvet are not made for each other. That's why we give you 90 nights to decide and try the product to see if you're happy with your choice. If the new product doesn't feel right, it's too hard or too soft, you can return it and choose a replacement. The refund is offered to a refund card.
