Are IKEA plants poisonous?
We do not include dangerous plant species in our selection. However, it is good to remember that each person has a different immunity to allergenic substances. Some people may be more sensitive to a particular plant, which is known to cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.
All IKEA plants are rated on a scale of 1 to 3 according to their poison level. Plants with a 3 rating (such as Christmas rose) are never included in the IKEA selection.
If you want to know more about the toxicity of IKEA plants, you can check the plant list of the HUS Poison Information Center by using the plant name. The plant list lists non-toxic and poisonous plants in alphabetical order. Plants are mentioned either as a species or as a genus, depending on whether the whole genus or only one species is considered poisonous.
The list includes both non-toxic and toxic plants in alphabetical order. Plants are listed either by species or genus, depending on whether the entire genus or only a specific species is considered poisonous.
For pets:
- In general, it can be considered that plants that are toxic to humans are also toxic to pets. Like humans, each pet can react differently.
- Please note that plants that are non-toxic to humans may not be completely safe for pets. The pet owner is always ultimately responsible for any symptoms caused if a domestic animal eats a plant.
Methods of control:
- Our plants mainly use nature-friendly control methods, such as spiders.
- We try to use any pesticides as little as possible and at the same time make sure that they meet all the strict regulations set by the IKEA Group for chemicals.
