How do I care for my solid wood worktop?

Here you will find all the information you need to care for your solid wood worktop.

Before assembly:

  • Unassembled worktops should be stored at normal room temperature and humidity. Do not lean the worktop against warm radiators or place it on cold floors.

  • Place the plate on the rear edge of the long side when setting it down.

  • Do not open the plastic packaging before installing the worktop.

  • Support legs are required for overhangs of more than 25 cm. The distance between the support legs must not exceed 80 cm.

  • Not suitable for use in damp rooms.

  • Recommended for indoor use only.

After assembly:

  • Sand the worktop with sandpaper in the direction of the grain before using it for the first time. The worktop was pre-treated with a layer of wood protection varnish during manufacture.

  • First prepare the worktop by sanding the wooden surfaces with fine sandpaper. Wipe off the sanding dust with a dry cloth.

  • Then apply TRIXIG Wood Oil to a cloth and apply an even thin film.

  • Allow the oil to absorb for approx. 20 minutes.

  • Wipe off excess oil with a soft, dry cloth.

  • Allow the surface to dry and repeat the process 1-2 times if necessary - depending on how well the oil is absorbed.

  • Lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper after the first treatment. Allow to dry and repeat the treatment after a few days.

Care and maintenance:

  • To maintain the durability of the board over many years, it should be treated with TRIXIG wood oil if necessary.

  • Treat the areas around the sink and stove, where the wood dries out more quickly, more frequently.

  • Scratches or minor damage can be removed with fine sandpaper and a sanding block.

  • Always sand in the direction of the grain.

  • Use washing-up liquid, liquid soap or water for daily cleaning.

  • Worktops that are installed above dishwashers, washing machines or ovens should be protected on the underside with FIXA vapor barrier.

  • Always use a chopping board; do not cut directly on the worktop with knives. Do not drag objects with rough or sharp edges across the worktop; this can damage the surface.

  • Do not operate toasters, coffee machines, kettles and other kitchen appliances that generate heat on the joint between two worktops; heat can cause damage here.

  • Do not use steel brushes, pot scrapers, acids or similar products, as these could damage the surface.
