Can I use the IKEA Home smart app with TRÅDFRI gateway?

No. The app "IKEA Home smart" only works with DIRIGERA hub, and the app "IKEA Home smart 1" is only compatible with TRÅDFRI gateway.

 

  • Can I use the smart products from IKEA I already have at home with DIRIGERA hub and the IKEA Home smart app?

    Yes. All smart products in our range can be paired with DIRIGERA hub.

  • Can I keep expanding my smart home with new product releases from IKEA if I have a TRÅDFRI gateway?

    As we keep developing new smart products, and as the technology they require also evolves rapidly, not all smart products will be able to connect to TRÅDFRI gateway and will require DIRIGERA hub instead.

  • Can I still control my smart home from IKEA even if my internet connection is down?

    Yes. Both DIRIGERA hub and TRÅDFRI gateway must be connected to your Wi-Fi router, but they don't need an actual internet connection.

  • I already have a smart home system from another brand, can I use smart products from IKEA in that one?

    With DIRIGERA hub, the IKEA Home smart app can guide you in connecting to Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit.

  • How do I update the IKEA Home smart app, DIRIGERA hub and my smart products?

    The apps IKEA Home smart (works with DIRIGERA hub) and IKEA Home smart 1 (works with TRÅDFRI gateway) can be updated in either App Store or Google Play, wherever you first downloaded it. Make sure to keep your app updated to enjoy the latest features! DIRIGERA hub and TRÅDFRI gateway, together with your smart products, automatically stay updated.

  • Do I need to be at home to control my smart home?

    Yes. The IKEA Home smart app connects with DIRIGERA hub and your smart products when you are using the same Wi-Fi.
