Office plants make your space more inviting

For many years, it was common for offices of all types to be a bit sterile, lacking in decorative elements in favor of all things white, gray and beige. From the waiting room in the dentist’s office to the front desk of an office building, there wasn’t a colorful vase, unique wall art or flourishing office plants to be found.

Thankfully, many modern offices bear little resemblance to those of yesteryear, foregoing the fluorescent lights and drab walls for color, texture, natural light and thoughtful design choices.

Many of us spend a great deal of time in our offices, with some offices also regularly welcoming patients, clients and guests. Calming and welcoming decor choices like the addition of office desk plants goes a long way toward making these spaces a more pleasant place to be for everyone.

Desk plants bring nature into view

If you’re like many people, you spend 40 hours or more sitting at your desk each week. And even if you’re fortunate enough to have a nice view, staring at piles of papers and bright screens can be overwhelming. Adding one or a few desk plants to your home office setup can do wonders for your mood, providing color and texture while giving you something natural and calming to rest your eyes on when the emails keep coming in!

Consider adding larger office plants in areas with unused space, or those that can benefit from a bit of a visual break—such as between two chairs. Smaller desk plants in your immediate space help round out the look. Just be sure to check the varieties you like best to determine their water and sunlight needs. After all—nobody wants a wilting coworker!
