Are all IKEA fabrics now called TYG?

What does TYG mean at IKEA? Find out why fabrics are now labelled TYG and what this means for the individual patterns.

No. “TYG” is Swedish and means “fabric”.

What does that mean in practice?

  • Every pattern and print still has its own product name.
  • Examples include FLUGBLOMSTER, RAKOSTA, TAGGLUSERN and others.
  • Each fabric also has its own article number.

Why does TYG appear in the name?

TYG is the umbrella term used for the new pre-cut fabric lengths. The individual product name remains unchanged, so you can still identify each design by its own name.
