Why are IKEA TYG fabrics only sold in 3 m lengths?

The size of the TYG fabric lengths was determined as part of a global system change. All fabrics are now offered in a standardised, pre-cut format of 3 m lengths (150 × 300 cm).
Why 3 m?
- Many curtain and home furnishing projects require longer fabric lengths, especially in homes with high ceilings.
- Standardised dimensions make planning easier and improve online availability.
- The new format helps to reduce waste during the production process.
What if I need less fabric?
Any leftover fabric can be used for smaller sewing projects such as cushions, bags or DIY ideas. You can also find inspiration and sewing instructions for the TYG collection online.
