Airing and vacuuming will help to eliminate the smell that the rug can have when it is new.
Cleaning: Use a mild detergent, brush with a soft brush and rinse thoroughly with water. Let the rug dry completely before use

Do not tumble dry.
Do not iron.
Do not dryclean.
Vacuum, shake and rotate the rug regularly.
Dry spots; remove immediately by scraping carefully towards the middle of the spot.
Wet spots; do not rub. Absorb with paper towels, damp with cloth and mild detergent.
Professional carpet cleaning when needed.
Always use the standard floorhead, never the rotating brush, when vaccum cleaning the rug.
To make the rug last longer, store it inside when not in use.

Bought this as hallway runner and it's perfect. Soft underfoot but feels like it will hold up for a long time. Added non slip mat underneath as it was slipping without it.
