They do look smaller than our previous set, also from IKEA, but they hold exactly the same as the other set. They look and feel much better quality.

This is not my first set of ikea dishes and this set does not disappoint. The color is excellent and the weight is also just right. Both the plates and bowls hold just the right amount and we bought 2 sets to have 12 place settings.
